Tom McCluskey

I’ve recently finished my master’s in book publishing (ok, technically it’s a master’s in writing with a concentration in book publishing) from Portland State University, where I got to be very involved in PSU’s Ooligan Press, the student-run publishing house that is the centerpiece of the publishing program. My particular interest in publishing is in the future of the industry, and of books in general. I’m especially interested in transmedia and new media.

I’m also a sometime writer, a gamer, a reader of quality SF and fantasy, and a fencer. I’ve done plenty of traveling, and for 8 years or so I worked on Tall Ships as deckhand, bosun, and eventually mate.

Below is a selection of the work I’ve done, both in PSU’s publishing program and after it.

These items all come from my master’s portfolio, which is a book I was required to write, edit, design, and have printed in order to receive my degree. Unfortunately, I’m unable to include sections showing the edits I’ve done, as the texts that I was editing are under copyright. If you’re interested particularly in edits, I can provide you some examples of my work; I just can’t post it up here for all the world to see.
