These Ohaka, or gravestones, are in a quiet litte corner of a peaceful temple in Kyoto. They memorialize a famous troupe of kabuki actors.

Splicing wire is, as some have observed, a bit like wrestling a steel octopus, but there is a definite art to it, and once you have a feel for the process and really know what you’re doing, everything just snaps into place. |
